CANRAD had the opportunity of hosting the South African Premiere of Injury Time. This documentary took Mark Fredericks seven years to complete, and seriously challenges the conventions presented in Hollywood’s INVICTUS and poses deep questions with regards to sport in the ‘New’ South Africa. Injury Time portrays the important role non-racial sport played in the liberation struggle in South Africa. The film frequently refers to SACOS (South African Council on Sport) who became an enemy of the state and was targeted by the Nationalist Government.
