“Music will always find its home,” said Richard Nwamba, guest speaker at the Africa Day Celebration at North Conference Centre.

He presented a lecture titled “Music as a weapon of change” hosted by CANRAD, Arts & Culture and the International Office.

He captured the audience with music from all over the continent, and had them clapping hands and dancing as he spoke. “Music is music, if you love music you’ll love it, whether you understand the language or not,” he said.

The lecture was attended by NMMU students, academics and the community.

Richard – a trained English and History teacher – is an award-winning playwright, musician, actor and broadcaster.
