Giovanni Poggi

Giovanni Poggi is a lecturer in the Department of History and Political Studies at Nelson Mandela University. His foundation is in International Studies (Stellenbosch University), but he migrated research interests as a postgraduate toward philosophy, ideology, comparative politics and political economy. His MA dissertation, housed at Nelson Mandela University, contributed to the growing bank of knowledge on resource-related ethnic and ethno-religious conflict in sub-Saharan Africa. His current research efforts are centred on comparative regime studies and the lessening of political and socio-economic exclusion on the African continent. Working toward his PhD, he is presently researching models of developmental political economy for sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa.
