Preview Marc Röntsch is a Vice-Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellow at CANRAD and the Music Department at Nelson Mandela University.  His research focus is the intersection between identity politics and critical whiteness theory in post-apartheid popular music of the Western Cape. Marc received his PhD in 2017 from Stellenbosch University under the supervision of Prof Stephanus Muller. Marc previously held a postdoctoral research fellowship at Africa Open Institute for Music, Research and Innovation. He is also a guitarist and bassist, having performed with bands such as Stereo Zen, Tape Hiss and Sparkle and Black Moscow.
