Siyanda Andries is a Research Assistant and a Master’s student in Anthropology, focusing on social constructions of disease. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Arts Honour’s degree in Anthropology from Nelson Mandela University. His research interest is in how rural and urban people in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, make sense of the coronavirus pandemic and related governmental lockdown measures with a view to eliciting narratives that shed light on experiences of a pandemic in a democratic but unequal society.
