Zandile Tose is the Research Programme Intern at CANRAD and a Master’s student in Sociology at Nelson Mandela University, focusing on the social construction of women’s political agency. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a B Soc Sci Honour’s degree in Gender Studies from the University of Pretoria. Her research interests are gender and race in relation to feminist theories, with a specific focus on performativity and performance, representation, inequality, nationalism and intersectionality. Zandile is a social equality activist and a member of the Khayelitsha-based lesbian organisation Free Gender. She uses this platform to oppose and tackle all forms of violence and hate against LGBTIQ+ individuals.
