Zukiswa Coko is an Engagement intern and a Master’s student in the Department of English. Her research focuses on postmodern discourses in contemporary South African literature. Extensive experience as a language educator in the further education and training sector culminated in the realisation that, because literature powerfully encodes the day-to-day realities of individuals, communities and societies, it can provide a safe space for the deconstruction of neocolonial ideologies and representations, serving as a foundation for the diverse cultural landscapes that democratic South Africa envisages.
