Engagement and Community Liaison Intern at the Centre for the Advancement of Non-Racialism and Democracy (CANRAD) and a postgraduate student at the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, incorporating History, at the Nelson Mandela University. His research interests straddle the disciplines of Sociology and History, with a major focus on the transatlantic Slave trade, slave culture and uprising; resistance movements such as the Black Power movement and the Black Consciousness movement; colonialism, coloniality and epistemic colonialism and the colonial nature of knowledge production in South African Universities, and what causes to students to demand a decolonised education. He participated in a CANRAD writers’ retreat, producing a paper titled ‘Ulwaluko and the Construction of Xhosa Masculinity’.
